Yes, Thorgan Hazard is related to Eden Hazard. They are brothers, with Eden the older of the two. Both became Belgian internationals and spent time at Chelsea, although their club careers followed different paths. Their connection is confirmed by official football organizations and the clubs they represented.
The shared surname reflects a wider footballing family. Their parents played the sport, and their younger brothers, Kylian and Ethan, also grew up around football.
How Are Thorgan Hazard and Eden Hazard Related?
Eden is the eldest of four Hazard brothers, followed by Thorgan, Kylian, and Ethan. UEFA’s announcement of Thorgan’s Chelsea signing in July 2012 explicitly described Eden as his elder brother.
The brothers’ relationship also appears in their own accounts of childhood. In an interview with Champions Journal, Eden recalled trying to recreate Zinedine Zidane’s famous 2002 Champions League final volley with Thorgan in their family garden.
That shared enthusiasm preceded their professional careers. They developed their skills within the same family environment before moving into different football academies and senior teams.
Who Are Their Parents and Other Brothers?
Their parents are Thierry and Carine Hazard. UEFA’s profile of Eden describes both parents as former footballers and identifies Thorgan, Kylian, and Ethan as his younger brothers.
The family grew up around Braine-le-Comte in Belgium. Eden’s Champions Journal interview describes a childhood in which playing football was an everyday activity.
Kylian also spent time at Chelsea. The club’s own feature about footballing siblings confirms that Eden, Thorgan, and Kylian were all associated with the Blues. Sharing a club, however, did not mean they established identical first-team careers.
Did Thorgan and Eden Both Play for Chelsea?
Both joined Chelsea in 2012, but their opportunities differed. Eden arrived from Lille and became a central figure in the senior team. Thorgan joined from Lens and continued developing through loan moves.
Anderlecht’s official career summary records that Chelsea loaned Thorgan to Zulte Waregem for two seasons. His performances there earned him the 2013 Belgian Golden Boot.
Eden, meanwhile, made 352 appearances and scored 110 goals during seven seasons at Chelsea. Those are all-competition figures, as recorded by Chelsea, rather than Premier League totals. He later joined Real Madrid in 2019.
Belgium Teammates With Separate Achievements
The brothers also represented Belgium together. Both were part of the national squad at the 2018 World Cup, where Belgium finished third, and later appeared at the European Championship held in 2021.
Thorgan provided one of Belgium’s most memorable moments at that tournament. UEFA’s match report records his winning goal in the 1–0 round-of-16 victory over Portugal on June 27, 2021.
His club career also included Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, PSV, and Anderlecht. Dortmund confirmed that he won the German Cup with the club in 2021 before moving to Anderlecht in September 2023.
What Happened Later in Their Careers?
Eden announced his retirement from professional football on October 10, 2023. Chelsea reproduced his Instagram announcement, in which he reflected on his career and thanked the people who supported him.
Thorgan’s career continued separately. In May 2026, Anderlecht-Online reported the club’s Facebook farewell announcing his departure after that season. A transfer rumor mentioned alongside that announcement should not be mistaken for confirmation of a new club.
The family relationship is straightforward: Thorgan is Eden’s younger brother. Their shared background and international appearances connect them, while their individual achievements show why each has his own place in Belgian football.
